Answer # How do I uninstall Clacky completely? To uninstall Clacky, quit it from its menu-bar menu and drag it from Applications to the Trash. To remove every trace, also take it out of the privacy lists in System Settings and delete its folder in ~/Library/Application Support and its preferences file. If you bought Clacky, free your licence first with Move to another Mac so your key is ready for your next Mac. Your recordings and screenshots stay in ~/Movies/Clacky and ~/Pictures/Clacky Screenshots until you delete them yourself. If you bought Clacky, open Settings → **Licence**, click **Deactivate…** next to Move to another Mac, then **Deactivate**. Skip this during the free trial. 2. If **Launch at login** is on in Settings → General, switch it off. 3. Choose **Quit Clacky** in Clacky’s menu-bar menu. 4. In Finder, open Applications and drag Clacky to the Trash. 5. In System Settings → Privacy & Security → **Input Monitoring**, select Clacky and remove it with the minus button. Do the same under Screen & System Audio Recording (Screen Recording on macOS 14 and earlier) and Microphone, if Clacky is there. 6. In Finder, choose Go → Go to Folder and move the files in the table below to the Trash. ## Every file Clacky leaves behind Paste each path into Go → Go to Folder in Finder. To remove them too, open Keychain Access (search for it with Spotlight), search for Clacky, and delete the items named **Clacky licence** and **Clacky free trial** (and **Clacky Friends** if you used Friends). If Clacky still shows in System Settings → General → Login Items (Login Items & Extensions on newer macOS), remove it there. Removing these doesn’t give a Mac a new free trial. clacky.app remembers each trial by an anonymous one-way Mac ID, so reinstalling, wiping the Keychain or changing the clock won’t start a second one. ## Data on our server If you turned on Friends, turn it off in Clacky before you uninstall. That deletes your card, friends, requests, cheers, cookie gifts, leaderboard scores and username from our server. Want anything else deleted, like a support conversation? Email hello@clacky.app and a real person answers. ## Reinstalling later Download Clacky again from [clacky.app](https://clacky.app/try/), open it and paste your key in Settings → Licence. If you kept the Application Support folder and the preferences file, your settings and Clackyland come back as they were. ## Questions ### Does deleting Clacky delete my recordings? No. Recordings stay in ~/Movies/Clacky and screenshots in ~/Pictures/Clacky Screenshots until you delete them. ### I deleted Clacky without moving my licence. Can I still use my key? Yes. Sign in to [Polar’s customer portal](https://polar.sh/clacky/portal) with the email you bought with, free the old Mac there, then activate on the new one. ### Will reinstalling give me a new free trial? No. The free trial runs once per Mac, even after you reinstall. ### Can I get a refund when I uninstall? Within 7 days of buying, yes (14 where your local law gives longer).
