# Terms The short version: try Clacky free for 7 days, then pick a plan if you like it. A licence is for 2 Macs. Subscriptions cancel any time; Lifetime is paid once. Polar handles payments. Be kind on the leaderboards. If something goes wrong, email us and we’ll sort it out. Nothing here takes away your rights as a consumer. Effective 9 October 2026. ## Who we are Clacky is a Mac menu-bar app and this website, clacky.app. Both are made by Justinas Rolando, an independent developer based in Spain; “we” and “us” mean him. By downloading Clacky, buying a plan or using this website, you agree to these terms. What we collect, and what we never do, is on the [privacy page](https://clacky.app/privacy/). ## Your licence A plan comes with a licence key, in your Polar receipt and your [customer portal](https://polar.sh/clacky/portal). It lets you use Clacky on **up to 2 Macs**, for yourself or your work. You can move it to another Mac from the portal. Please don’t share, publish or resell your key, get around the licence or the trial, or copy, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute the app, except where the law allows it anyway. You get a licence to use Clacky; the app, its sounds, Boop and the other characters stay ours. ## The free trial 7 days of the full app, free, from the first time you open Clacky. No card, no account. There is one trial per Mac: to make that work, Clacky sends an anonymous, one-way ID of your Mac once (see the privacy page). When the trial ends, Clacky locks until you pick a plan. Nothing is ever charged when a trial ends. ## Subscriptions Monthly ($4.99 a month) and Yearly ($39 a year), in US dollars; Polar adds any VAT or sales tax that applies where you live at checkout. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel it. **Cancel any time** in your [Polar customer portal](https://polar.sh/clacky/portal). Clacky keeps working until the end of the period you already paid for, then locks. If we ever change a subscription’s price, we’ll email you before the new price applies to you, so you can cancel first. ## Lifetime Lifetime is $69 once, with no renewal: every tool and every update, for as long as Clacky is made, on 2 Macs. Only 100 are sold at that price, and a limited offer may sell some for less; the licence is the same. Everyone who bought Clacky before 2.0 has Lifetime too. If we ever stop making Clacky, we’ll tell Lifetime owners by email and do our best to keep the version you have working on your Macs. ## Refunds Try Clacky free for 7 days first, so you know it works on your Mac before paying anything. If you’ve paid and something is wrong, email [hello@clacky.app](mailto:hello@clacky.app) with your order ID and we’ll sort it out, including a **refund through Polar** when that’s the right fix; the money goes back to the card you paid with. A refunded plan ends, and its licence key stops working. This never takes away a right to cancel or a refund that consumer law gives you where you live. ## Updates Clacky checks clacky.app for updates about once a day and offers them in the app; you can turn that check off in Settings, or check by hand. Every active plan gets every update, and every new tool is an update, not a new purchase. Updates can add, change or occasionally remove features; what changed is always in the [changelog](https://clacky.app/changelog/). We aim to support the macOS versions listed on this site, but we can’t promise every future Mac or macOS. ## Optional online features Clacky’s sounds and tools work on your Mac. A few parts go online, and they only do what the [privacy page](https://clacky.app/privacy/) describes: - **Updates** come through Sparkle, the standard updater for Mac apps, from clacky.app. - **Ask Boop**, the AI help chat, sends your question so it can be answered. - **SeenPaid** posting works only if you connect it with your own SeenPaid key; SeenPaid’s own terms apply to what you post through it. ## Using Clacky fairly - Use Clacky and this website lawfully, and respect other people: don’t record anyone, or their screen or voice, without the consent the law requires. - Don’t attack, overload or try to break into clacky.app, its APIs, the trial or the licence checks, and don’t scrape the site at scale. - Don’t send spam, abuse or anything illegal through the forms or Boop Support. If a key is shared, resold, bought with fraud or charged back, we may switch it off. We’ll tell you why first when we can. ## Leaderboards and the site’s toys The website has games, a typing test, live counters and a click map, just for fun. If you put a score on a leaderboard, the nickname you pick is public. **No offensive, hateful or impersonating nicknames**, no links, and no cheating. Some names are filtered automatically, and we may remove or change any nickname or score, or reset a board, at any time and without notice. The toys can change or disappear. ## Your feedback and reviews Reviews, bug reports and ideas you send through the [feedback form](https://clacky.app/feedback/) or Boop Support stay private. We may use your ideas to improve Clacky, without owing you anything for them. We **quote a review on the site only with your permission**: even if you ticked “You may quote this review on clacky.app”, we ask you first, and use your first name only. ## Services we rely on - **Polar** is our merchant of record: it sells you Clacky, takes the payment, handles VAT, sales tax and invoices, and issues your licence key. Its own checkout terms apply to the payment. - **Cloudflare** hosts this website and its database. - **Umami**, which we host ourselves, counts visits to this website without cookies. - **Resend** delivers the emails you ask for. We can’t control their outages, but if one gets in your way, email us and we’ll help. ## No guarantees, limited liability We work hard to make Clacky good and reliable, but it comes “as is”: we can’t promise it will be free of bugs, work with every Mac, app or setup, or never be interrupted. Keep your own backups of recordings and anything else that matters. As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect losses, such as lost profits, lost data or lost work, and our total liability for anything to do with Clacky is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that the law doesn’t allow to be limited (such as for fraud, gross negligence, or death or personal injury), or the legal guarantees you have as a consumer, like your right to an app that works as described. ## The law These terms are governed by the laws of Spain. If you’re a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live. Before anything formal, please email us: most problems are fixed with one reply. ## Changes to these terms We may update these terms as Clacky changes; the date at the top shows the latest version. If a change matters for a paid plan, we’ll tell you by email or in the app before it applies. A change never takes away what you already paid for. ## Questions Anything unclear?
