Scroll ticks

A soft tick for every notch of the scroll wheel, in several styles, so scrolling has the same tactile feel as clicking.

Click ripple for recordings

A ripple drawn under the cursor on every click, in any size, colour and style. It appears in every screen recording, so viewers can see exactly where you clicked without any editing afterwards.

Extra moments

Optional sounds for double-clicks, long presses and drags, plus stereo panning that follows the cursor across the screen.

How Clacky works

Clacky is sold only at clacky.app. Polar, the merchant of record, takes the payment, handles tax and emails your receipt and licence key. You download the app, paste the key, allow Input Monitoring, and pick a sound from the menu bar. Updates install through the app.

Does Clacky work with trackpads?

Yes, it’s designed for trackpads as much as mice. Clacky reacts to the clicks macOS reports, so trackpad presses, tap to click (which is normally silent) and any mouse that works with your Mac all get a sound and a ripple.

Will the clicks be in my screen recording?

The ripple always will, and the sound will whenever your recorder captures your Mac’s audio. The ripple is drawn on screen, so every screen recorder picks it up. Many recorders only record the microphone by default, so switch on system audio in your recorder; see how to record the click sound.

Does Clacky collect any data?

No. Clacky collects no data: no account, no analytics, no tracking. It goes online only to check clacky.app for updates (about once a day, and you can turn it off) and to activate your licence with Polar (sending the key and your Mac’s model name). Everything else works offline. This website stores nothing that identifies you: cookie-free, anonymous visit counts, and, for the live click map, the city your clicks on this page come from (never your IP address), for 24 hours.
