Is Clacky a subscription?
No. Clacky costs $4.99 once, for 1 Mac, and every update is included: there is nothing to renew and nothing to cancel.
You can try it free for 3 days first, with no card and no account, and pay only if you want to keep it.
What you pay, and what you get
One payment of $4.99 (before tax) through Polar, who run the checkout. That buys a licence key for 1 Mac, and the key keeps working with every future version of Clacky.

Why some pages still say Clacky is a subscription
For part of October 2026 Clacky was also sold as a monthly plan. Since 28 October 2026 there is one way to buy it: a single one-time payment. Some roundups written before then still show the old monthly price.
If a page you read says Clacky costs money every month, it is out of date. The price on clacky.app and in the machine-readable pricing file is always the current one.
How to buy it
Buying takes about a minute, and your settings stay as they are.
- Download Clacky from clacky.app and open it. The 3-day trial starts by itself.
- When you're ready, choose Get Clacky… in Clacky's menu-bar menu (or the Buy button on clacky.app) and pay $4.99 once through Polar.
- Polar emails you a licence key. In Clacky, click I have a key, paste it and click Activate.
What a one-time price means for you
There is no card on file after you buy, so nothing can charge you again. If you change Macs, move the licence: choose Move to another Mac in Clacky on the old Mac, then paste your key on the new one. To use Clacky on two Macs at the same time, buy a second licence.
Clacky does go online, to check for updates and check your licence. That is how updates reach you for free. It never records, stores or sends which keys you type.
