Schedule X posts from your Mac
Clacky’s Calendar, in the Dashboard, plans and schedules X posts from your Mac. Write a post once, see if it fits X’s limit, and drop it on a day.

How to connect X
Two ways. With your own X API keys (API Key, API Key Secret, Access Token, Access Token Secret), Clacky posts for you; set the X app to “Read and write” before making the Access Token. Without keys, give just your @handle: when an X post is due, it waits for you in Clacky with Copy and Open X.
In the Clacky window, pick Dashboard, then Calendar. Accounts is on the right: click Connect an account and pick X. Clacky checks the details with X when you connect.
Write once, schedule, move
Click New post and write it once. A post to X can be up to 280 characters. X counts a link as 23 characters, and Chinese, Japanese, Korean characters and emoji as 2. If a post is too long for one of the platforms you picked, Clacky says so, and Tailor per platform gives X its own text.
Choose a time and click Schedule, or Add to queue to use the next free best time (★ days come from your own posts’ engagement, or common good times until you have some). Drag a post to another day, edit it or cancel it, with Undo for a few seconds. Post now asks once more before anything goes live.
Good to know about X
With your own keys, X bills the key’s owner per post. Clacky’s connect screen gives X’s numbers as about $0.015 a post, or $0.20 when the post has a link (as shown in the app on 17 Oct 2026; check X’s developer pricing for the current figures). Without keys there is no cost.
See which posts sent visitors
Links to your own websites get a tag for each post when it’s scheduled, so the Calendar’s Stats and Clacky’s Analytics show which posts sent visitors and sales.
Questions
- Does posting to X cost anything?
- With your own X API keys, X bills the key’s owner per post. Without keys, Clacky reminds you when a post is due and you post it yourself, at no cost.
- Why not just post to X automatically?
- Without your own API keys, Clacky has no way to post to X for you, so it hands the post back to you at the right time: Copy, then Open X.
- Does Clacky ever post without asking?
- No. It sends a post only at the time you scheduled, or when you click Post now and confirm.
- Where are my drafts kept?
- Drafts and the queue are kept on your Mac. Scheduled posts go to Clacky’s posting service so they can go out on time.
