Do I need a cookie banner for Clacky Analytics?

Not for Clacky Analytics: it stores nothing on the visitor’s device. Other tools on your site may still need one.

What’s the trade-off?

A visitor is followed for one day at most. Over a week, someone who comes back on three days counts three times.

Can I see who my visitors are?

No. You see visits, pages, sources and rough places, never names, emails or IP addresses.

What it is

Clacky Analytics uses no cookies and stores nothing on your visitors’ devices: no cookies, no local storage. That’s why it needs no cookie banner.

No IP addresses are kept. The IP is used for a moment to make an anonymous id that changes every day, and the daily secret behind it is deleted after two days. After that, nobody, Clacky included, can link a visit back to an IP or one day’s visitor to the next.

Bots are dropped, and live places are rounded to the city.
