Screen Recorder
Record the full screen, one window or an area, with your clicks heard and their ripples seen. Saved to Movies › Clacky. macOS 15 or later.

What it is
Clacky’s screen recorder captures the whole screen, one window or an area you drag out, together with your Mac’s sound. Your clicks are heard in the video and their ripples are seen, so viewers follow every step.
A small bar holds everything: Full Screen, Window or Area, the microphone, Mac Audio, the camera bubble, Spotlight and the cursor style. A 3-2-1 countdown starts it, and a small pill with the time shows while you record.
When you stop, a preview plays the video straight away. Recordings are saved to Movies › Clacky and are never uploaded. It needs macOS 15 or later.
How to use it
Open the recorder
In Studio, click Record. You can also click the Record tile in the Clacky menu.
Pick what to record
In the recorder bar, choose Full Screen, Window or Area. Turn on a microphone or the camera if you want them.
Allow Screen Recording once
The first time, macOS asks for Screen & System Audio Recording. Allow it in System Settings; macOS may ask you to reopen Clacky.
Record
Click Record (or press Return). After the 3-2-1 countdown, the pill shows the time.
Stop
Click Stop in the pill, the notch or the Clacky menu. The preview opens and the file is in Movies › Clacky.
Tips
- Click the countdown to start straight away.
- Settings → Recorder lets you change the folder recordings are saved to.
- Turn on Open Studio after each recording in Settings → Recorder and every take opens in the editor as soon as you stop.
Questions
- Does it record my Mac’s sound?
- Yes. Mac Audio is on by default, so your clicks and everything else your Mac plays are in the video. Add a microphone for your voice.
- Why does it need macOS 15?
- It is built on the screen capture tools Apple added in macOS 15, which write the video, the Mac’s sound and the microphone together reliably.
- Will it stop by itself if macOS interrupts it?
- No. If macOS stops the capture for a moment, Clacky carries on recording. Only Stop ends a recording, and the parts are joined into one file.
