Mouse test

Click every button, roll the wheel both ways and double-click. The mouse lights up what it hears, counts every press and shows the time between clicks, so a worn button that double-clicks by itself gets caught.

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type, click, film or say is uploaded or saved.

Clacky
Hi! It’s all free 👋Click an app to open it. Drag a window by its top bar.
  • Clacky Island

It runs right here, on the little Mac. Drag the window, open other apps from the Dock.

How to test your mouse

  1. Move the pointer onto the test area.
  2. Press left, right and middle (the wheel), then the side buttons if you have them.
  3. Roll the wheel up and down: each notch counts once.
  4. Single-click the left button slowly a few times and watch Time between clicks.

Double-click problems

A worn switch sometimes sends two clicks for one press. They arrive only a few milliseconds apart, much faster than any person can click. Gaps under 80 ms are marked: if they show up while you single-click, the switch is worn.

Trackpads

A two-finger click (or Control-click) is a right click. Tap to click works too.

Questions

How do I know if my mouse double-clicks by itself?

Click slowly, once at a time, and watch the times between clicks. A real double-click is 100–400 ms apart. Gaps under 80 ms while you single-click mean the switch is chattering.

My back and forward buttons do nothing here.

Some mice only send them with their own app (Logitech Options+, for example). If they don’t light up, the browser isn’t getting them.

Does the scroll test work with a trackpad?

Yes, but a trackpad scrolls smoothly, so it counts many small steps. A mouse wheel counts one per notch.
